From its origins as a centerpiece of lively community gatherings to its current role as a timeless event venue, the barn symbolizes the vibrant history and culture of Lochwood Manor that we hope to share for many years to come.
A Place of Dance & Joy
Years ago, the barn was a hub for line dancing, square dancing, and countless community events. It welcomed neighbors and visitors to the area, and echoed sounds of music and laughter. Judith Johnson Wexler, a member of one of the barn’s original families, fondly recalls those days when her family hosted dances and events at Lochwood Manor.
One of the most memorable moments for Judith and community members alike, is when the barn became a stage for American Bandstand, hosting a live event that featured Dick Clark!
Art Bringing History To Life
Today, Lochwood Manor continues to honor its legacy. Margaret Wiseheart, the talented niece of a former owner, recently spent time painting the barn. As she painted, her memories of its stored past came alive. Watching her paint was a terrific experience, and a testament to how Lochwood Manor isn’t just a building – it’s a place where love grows, communities gather, and timeless events occur. Her work titled, “A Wedding Awaits,” is an 11×14 oil painting and was featured in the local art gallery, Regina Marie Designs Gallery.
